Digital resource licence

Hewston Higgins member resource licence

Draft operational licence — obtain UK legal review before commercial launch.

Personal-use Calm Through Colour purchases

Calm Through Colour downloads bought through the public shop are licensed to the purchaser for personal and household use only. They may be printed for use within that household. They must not be copied or printed for a school, classroom, nursery, club, therapy practice, business or other organisation, and must not be shared, forwarded, resold, uploaded or redistributed. School and organisational use requires the appropriate Hewston Higgins school membership or licence.

Public classroom-resource purchases

Classroom wellbeing posters and toolkit downloads bought through the public Resources Shop are licensed to one purchaser for use in one classroom, or by one individual practitioner such as a tutor, therapist or childminder. The purchaser may print the files as reasonably needed for that licensed classroom or individual practice. A public resource purchase is not a whole-school or multi-setting licence. Files must not be shared across staff teams, uploaded to shared school drives for unrestricted use, forwarded to another classroom or setting, resold, uploaded to resource marketplaces, published online or redistributed. Schools needing use across the registered setting should use the appropriate Hewston Higgins school membership or school licence.

1. Licensed access

Digital books and resources supplied through the Hewston Higgins Member Library are licensed, not sold. Access is limited to the family, educator, school, trust or organisation named on the active membership account.

2. Permitted use

Licensed members may access eligible resources for their own household or within the registered educational setting, subject to the membership tier and any stated pupil, staff, setting or download limits. Some resources may be portal-view, while resources intended for printing may be supplied as licensed, account-identified PDFs.

3. Prohibited sharing

Resources must not be forwarded, resold, redistributed, uploaded to public websites, shared drives, messaging groups, social-media groups, file-sharing services, resource marketplaces, or supplied to another school, setting, trust or organisation unless that use is expressly covered by the licence.

4. Identifying licence information

Downloaded files may contain the licensed account or school name, licence identifier and other identifying licence information. This information is used to deter and investigate unauthorised redistribution.

5. Multi-school use

A single-school licence does not cover another separately registered school or setting. Multi-school and trust use requires an appropriate multi-setting or MAT licence.

6. Account security

Members must take reasonable steps to keep account credentials secure and must not permit unauthorised persons to use an account.

7. Monitoring and suspension

Hewston Higgins may record resource access and downloads, use reasonable automated thresholds to identify unusual bulk activity, and temporarily pause downloading while activity is reviewed. A pause is a security measure rather than an allegation of misuse. Access may also be restricted or suspended where there is reasonable evidence of unauthorised distribution or a material breach of the licence.

8. Membership end

Access to the private library, portal-view resources, new downloads, staff management, usage reporting and future eligible additions ends when the membership or licence expires or is terminated. Previously downloaded files cannot technically be recalled from a member's device; any continuing right to use those files is governed by the final membership terms supplied at purchase.

School licence scope

The membership tier follows the licensed setting.

A single-school licence applies only to the registered school named on the agreement. The eligible tier is based on current pupil roll. Access across two or more schools, campuses or registered settings requires a multi-site / MAT agreement. If the licensed scope materially changes, the membership can be moved to the appropriate band.
