The same core materials can be adapted for different contexts. Schools should use professional judgement and individual pupil plans where applicable.
The value sits in the relationship between the physical books, the private digital library, staff access, teaching support, secure licensing, onboarding and ongoing usage evidence.
Search one organised library by topic, age/stage and intended classroom use.
Open portal-only materials or create licensed, school-identified PDFs where printing is genuinely needed.
Add approved staff, keep resources under one school licence and remove access when roles change.
See resource activity and areas used so SENCOs and SLT can understand whether the membership is delivering value.
Active membership keeps the school connected to the private library, eligible new releases, staff accounts, portal-view premium resources, secure downloads, usage reporting and ongoing support. Physical books remain permanent purchases and can be added separately.

The correct school licence is determined by current pupil roll. This keeps licensing clearer and avoids larger settings using a tier designed for a small school.
We publish feedback only when it is genuine and shared with permission. As more families and schools use the resources, their experiences will appear here.
DfE data for 2025/26 reports 19.4% of primary pupils in England had SEN support or an EHC plan. The 2026/27 Inclusive Mainstream Fund also provides £400 million to schools to strengthen inclusive practice. That funding is not earmarked for Hewston Higgins products.
Give children multiple ways into an idea through story, visuals, discussion and practical activity.
Create materials pupils can revisit in whole-class, nurture, pastoral or targeted contexts.
Give staff shared characters, language and follow-up resources around a topic.
Use books as lasting physical resources and digital materials for repeat teaching.
